NH4Cl ionises as NH4+ ion and Cl-ion. These ions interact with the H+ ion and OH- ion of water molecule to form NH4OH and HCl as follows.

NH4Cl---------->NH4+ +Cl-

NH4OH<======>NH4+ + OH-

HCl-----———--->H+ +Cl-.

The HCl Molecule formed will completely ionises to form H+ ion, as shown above.

But NH4OH molecule formed ionises only partially as shown above. So the ions present in the Solution of NH4Cl, will be, NH4+ , Cl-, H+, OH-. Besides these there will be some unionised NH4OH.

Now as explained above the number of H+ ions will be more than the number of OH-ions. So the Solution of NH4Cl will be acidic.
