Arabari is a forest range in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal. This forest was saved from destruction by Indian Forest Service Officer Mr. A. K. Banerjee in 1972.

He involved the local people living around the periphery of the forest in greening the forest by planting saplings and taking care of trees. A Joint Forest Management Committee which mainly included the local people was started, to conserve the forest and set up silviculture projects (controlling composition, health and quality of trees). The local people benefitted by getting 25% of the profits derived from the forest. This model came to called the Arabari Model.
