Question :-

Aradhana was sticking pictures on a chart of length 60cm and breadth 50cm. She left a border of 4cm all round. How many space was left for sticking the pictures?

Given :-

Length of the chart = 60 cm

Breadth of the chart = 50 cm

To find :-

the space left for sticking the pictures

Solution :-

⟶Area of the total chart = l × b

= 60 cm × 50 cm

= 3000cm²

⟶Area of the border = 4 + 4 = 8 cm

(Borders are on both sides to added)

⟶Area after adding border

= 68 cm × 58 cm = 3944 cm²

⟶Area left to stick pictures

= (3944 - 3000) = 944 cm²

hence, 944 cm² is left for sticking pictures.
