Answer is 4 1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

He spent 1 3/4 hours in studies

it means 7/10 hours

and he spent 2 1/2 hours in playing cricket

it means 5/2 hours

so denominators are not same we should do LCM

So LCM is 4 so we get 7/4 and 10/4

so by adding we get 17/4

that can be written as 4 1/4

Answer:

17/4 hrs

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1 :

convert the values into mixed fractions

time spent in studies = 1¾ = (1×4)+3/4 = 7/4

time spent in playing cricket = 2½ = (2×2)+1/2 = 5/2

step 2

time spent in all = time spent in studies + time spent in playing cricket .

therefore, time spent in all = 7/4 + 5/2

( LCM(4,2) =4)

= 7/4 + 5×2/2×2

= 7/4 + 10/4

= 7+10/4

=17/4
