Aravind has a kiddy bank.it is full of one rupee and fifty paise coins.it contains 3 times as many fifty paise coins as one rupee coins.The total amount of the money in the bank is Rs.35.How many coins of each kind are there in the bank.

Let there be n one-rupee coins. Therefore there are 3n 50-paise coins. Hence total money is Rs. n (on account of 1-rupee coins) + Rs.(1/2)x(3n) [On account of 50-paise coins]= 35
                              Or (2n+3n)/2 = 35 ==> 5n = 70 ==> n = 14.
Hence there are 14 1-rupee coins and 42 50-paise coins.
