Solution:

Cells of cuboidal epithelium are all cube like. So all cells of cuboid epithelium are similar. As this epithelium is found in gonads they are also called as germinal epithelium

➨ In gonads (testis and ovaries) cuboidal cells divide and differentiate to form egg and sperm

➨ Cuboidal epithelium modify themselves as brush bordered cuboidal epithelium and Ciliated cuboidal epithelium. Brush bordered clearly indicate that microvilli are present on free end of cuboidal epithelium

➨Ciliated cuboidal epithelium shows that cilia are present on free surface of cuboidal epithelium

➨Cuboidal epithelium helps in absorption, secretion and excretion. It is found in tubular part of nephron, sweat glands, Iris, choroid and vesicles of thyroid gland

 \boxed{ Knowledge Booster }

  1. Cuboidal epithelium contains a cell membrane, nucleus and a basement membrane. It is attached through connective tissue
  2. Brush border epithelium is found in PCT of nephron
  3. Ciliated cuboidal epithelium is found in neck of nephron and collecting duct
