Mostly plants are autotophic in nature and are capable of doing photosynthesis But some plants are heterotrophic in nature for example parasitic plants, carnivorous plants etc. The example of parasitic plant is Cuscuta which do not have chlorophyll and derives it nutrition by growing on its host plant.

As the term means self nutrition ,autotrophic plants are plants which prepare their own food . Green plants only prepare their own food .
