Both books and electronic devices have their own pros and cons

Books have recently been losing popularity but they are a much better alternative than using an electronic device like a tablet as our they don't inflict any damage to our eyes. The only cells in the human body that do not regenerate are the cells in our eyes so we must take utmost care of them. A downside of books is that it can get hard to read in the dark, a source of light is necessary, remembering the page you were on can also be quite a hassle if you're forgetful. Don't forget the endless number of lost bookmarks. Reading a book is a special experience, in my opinion, you could read for as long as you wanted if you had the time. The feel of the paper when you flip the page or just the odd and unique smell each book has is wonderful, although it is very harmful to the environment as making books needs paper.

In the past few years, devices like kindle, online reading, and audiobooks have become the rage. Although these devices can be bad for our eyes, they are highly sought after due to their portability (excluding computers) and audiobooks have gained popularity since you can listen on the go. There's absolutely no need to sit down and relax to understand the contents of the book. The amazon kindle/ tablets especially made for reading are great, they're light, thin, and can be read anywhere. All you have to take care of is charging it! Reading online also saves paper, hence saving precious trees.

In conclusion, in this golden age of knowledge, where everything is available to us, we must be mindful of what we use to gain this knowledge. If you prefer books, please consider buying used books or go to the library!! This considerably affects sales in bookstores which would decrease the production of books. Forests are quickly depleting hence we must do as much as we can to help, no matter how small the gesture may be. I would suggest shifting to electronics, but taking care of how long we use them.
