Yes,it is common mostly in un-educated families founded in the small villages.Mostly girls are being married in child to an adult.This is also happens because many old-thinking families in villages think that girls shouldn't be educated as well as we know that in the time when the British were there education for girl was considered as a crime.They think that boys should be only educated they have to have a carrear but in girls they are for just being a wife and to handle all the household things. Many people also think that daughter is a heavy load to their family.Thats way they just wanna give up so they just married them.
