Hoover and FDR both were very popular. But unfortunately Hoover made bad choices and became unpopular. Both of them were different in there thoughts and works. They were totally different because they have very different ideas on how depression should be handled.

Roosevelt felt that government spending to help people who were in economic trouble was much more acceptable than Hoover thought it was. Hoover believed in the idea of "rugged individualism" in which people are largely responsible for their own welfare. If people got in economic trouble, private charity was the best way to help them. The government should not be in the business of helping people financially. Roosevelt believed, government should be willing to step in and help.Herbert issued the Hoover-Stimson doctrine refusing to recognize the Japanese conquest of Manchuria and mediated between Chile and Peru to solve a conflict on the sovereignty of two provinces on their border. FDR Developed the Good Neighbor Policy withdrawing American forces from Latin American countries and respecting their sovereignty more, supported the case for intervention in WWII through the Destroyers for Bases Agreement and Lend-Lease Act supplying ships and armament to the Allied forces, led the US into WWII after the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and formulated strategy as part of the "Big Three" with Churchill and Stalin to defeat the Axis powers, relocated 100,000 Japanese American civilians into internment camps in 1942, and endorsed the creation of the United Nations and the Bretton Woods system of monetary management among statesSome similarities between the two are, they were both trying to make a difference in America and they were both trying to make America a better place to live. The major differences between the two are Roosevelt was very popular and was making a difference, but Hoover made bad choices and became unpopular. People blamed him for their misfortune.
