There are 2 types of veins in lower limb. They are:

  • Superficial veins
  • Deep veins

>>The vein which you are talking about in the question is femoral vein.This vein

is located beneath the deep fascia of the lower limb.

Deep and Superficial veins:

The superficial veins are located within the subcutaneous tissue while the deep veins are found deep to the deep fascia.

The deep veins are paired usually and accompany the major arteries and their branches.

>>They both contain venous valves, that prevent reflux of blood distally, but they are more numerous in the deep veins. They contain tributaries, other veins which drain into them.
