Are male and female children treated differently in your family? Have your parents had different expectations for their sons and daughters? Write a narrative essay recounting one or more incidents that illustrate these differences (or the lack of differences). If you and your siblings are all the same gender, or if you are the only child, write about another family you know

Yes, I feel that male and female children are treated differently in my family.

Gender discrimination is the unequal or disadvantageous treatment of an individual or group of individuals based on gender. Gender discrimination is most common in underdeveloped and developing countries like India. About a quarter of Indians (23%) say there is “a lot of discrimination” against women in their country. And 16% of Indian women reported that they personally had faced discrimination because of their gender in the 12 months before the 2019-2020 survey.

I have personally seen many instances in my school and home where I faced some discrimination because of my gender.

In my school girls were supposed to wear skirts and boys had shorts in younger classes. In 4th standard, one of my teachers used to scold girls with skirts above their knees and never said anything to boys whose shorts were above their knees.

Parents also differ in their expectations of their sons and daughters at home. My parents expect me to help my mother with household chores whereas they want my brother to bring stuff from outside.
