Are national borders good for society ? Why or why not ? (500 words)

It is not a question of being good or bad. The very idea of nation implies a boundary, and the boundary serves a purpose: to define a nation’s area and make it defensible. The Roman Empire collapsed in part because its borders could not be sustained. In general it does not help to cast political questions in moralistic terms of good and bad.

They’re awesome! If we didn’t have national borders, I’d be wondering if I was in Sri Lanka  right now, or China, or Pakistan...
