Wisdom teeth are the last and final molars which are appearing in the late ages after 18 years. They cannot be used as a effective molar for either chewing or mincing or crunching down hard or tough substances, the wisdom teeth is not needed and is a vestigial organ just like appendix is, there is no specified function for wisdom teeth in modern humans.
It was present in early humans or in our ancestors and because of their variety in their diets, the wisdom teeth was adopted, they particularly use for strength in removing roots from legumes and strong trees, breaking down nuts, extremely raw tough meat and spiny leaves, this was the diet involved in our ancestors and because of this the evolution made the wisdom teeth to appear to assist in breakdown and chewing of such foods. If the Wisdom teeth is causing uncomfortable pain and does not fix in a proper place of a set of 32 teeth then it should be consulted and removed by a dentist.
Modern humans don't need to hunt down their preys or depend on the same diet as of our ancestors, the jaws are also shortened. The foods are now going under series of process to make them tender and soft, they are more processed and need not require the importance of another tooth like wisdom tooth or teeth as pair. It is just an extra useless structure and is definitely non-existent. Therefore, according to evolutionary biologist too, they have defined as a positionary tooth which is not coming into the usual 32 sets of teeth and are not that much functional and never play a ensuring significant role in humans.
