       other number  = x     ................. (ii)

on adding 21 to both both numbers.

             we get (5x+21) & (x+21)

according to condition we have :

 2X(x+21) = x+21

or 2x+42 = 5x+21

transposing 42 to RHS and 5x to LHS , we have

  -3x = -21

on dividing by (-3) both sides

   -3x / (-3)  =  -21 / (-3)

we get x = 7

on putting x = 7 in equation (i)

we get 5x = 5X7 = 35
