Speaker tags are phrases used to mark the speaker of the line.These are required for most occasions. However, during specific times when the speaker is implied or obvious, as in a conversation between two characters, the speaker tag maybe avoided. Sometimes, it is the conscious choice of the author to not include the speaker tags to keep up the suspense for example in mystery novels.
