Are the magnetic lines closed? explain

Jia18: The field lines appear to be closed loops but you can’t conclude that lines are closed or open loops by looking at the picture of field lines because we do not know about alignment of lines that are passing through the bar magnet.
Jia18: The direction of a magnetic line at any point gives the direction of the magnetic force on a north pole placed at that point.Since the direction of magnetic field line is the direction of force on a north pole. So the magnetic lines always begin from the ‘N’ pole of the magnet and end on the ‘S’ pole of the magnet.
sujith10thclass: good answer
Jia18: Inside the magnet however the direction of magnetic lines is from S-pole of the magnet to the N-pole of the magnet. Thus the magnetic field lines are closed.
Jia18: it's from Google. , so u should get correct knowledge
Jia18: anyway thank you
sujith10thclass: thanks jia
Jia18: welcome

Bonjour!

The magnetic field direction is the same direction a compass needle points, which is tangent to the magnetic field line at any given point.
Magnetic field lines are continuous and unbroken, forming closed loops. Magnetic field lines are defined to begin on the north pole of a magnet and terminate on the south pole.

Hope this helps...)
