A null is neither an empty string (for data types for characters or dates) nor a negative value (for data types numerics).
The specification of ANSI SQL-92 states that for all data types nulls must be identical so that the nulls are handled consistently.
Explanation:
- If the value in the column is unknown or missing, a null value is used in a relationship database.
- Null is not an empty string, nor a zero value (for binary data types). Zero is not a null string.
- For any given data type a null must be the same so that all nulls are handled consistently in the ANSI SQL-92 specification.
- The namespace of System.
- SqlTypes offers zero sémantics through the INullable interface implementation.
- Each data type has a unique IsNull property and a zero value in System. Data. SqlTypes, which can be assigned to an instance.
