The pigment which conforms the colour of skin is melanin pigment.

Melanin is the main pigment responsible for the various pigmentations found in animal and human skin, hair, and eyes. Thus, L-tyrosine should be considered the main monophenol precursor of melanin although not the only one. Eumelanin provides primarily dark colors, from brown to black.
