Volume of water and ice formed with same amount of water has equal volume because of -
During ice formation process from liquid water, there is only heat extraction from liquid water happens.
And due to this heat extraction , temperature of water decreases and reach to its freezing point and gets converted into ice.
Since, there is only energy interaction in this phase change process not of mass. So, the volume is also conserved.
