Schlieden and Schwann said that the new cells arise "de novo" which means automatically they are produced
This was proved wrong by Rudolf virchow he said cells are Omni cellula or ecellula , which means they originate from pre existing cells

Cell theory states that:

- Cells are the fundamental unit of structure, function and organization in all living cells

- New cells are formed from other cells

- All living things are made up of cells.

But there are few exceptions to this theory, such as:

- There is a debate whether virus should be considered as living. They are dead outside the host body and cannot reproduce.

- The first cell didn’t come from another cell

- Mitochondria and Chloroplast have their own genetic material and they can independently reproduce
