According to the ancient myths Diwali was the day when lord rama came back to Ayodhya after completing his 14 years of exile.
In this day the whole city of Ayodhya was decorated with lamps as the day was of Amavasya and in the joy of ratna's arrival the whole city was beautifully decorated with lights.
Every people of the city greeted lord rama with sweets, full of enthusiasm and joy.
