Food and liquid go down one pipe the esophagus to your stomach. Air goes down anotherpipe the trachea or windpipe to your lungs. These two pipes share an opening at the back of your throat.

Hey There! Windpipe i.e. Trachea and Food pipe i.e. Oesophagus are different from each other. The trachea is used for breathing and it carries your breath from the nose or mouth to the lungs, while the Oesophagus is used to transport food and liquids from the mouth to the stomach.
