ANSWER:-

Given:

Five years ago,

A mother was 7 times as old as her daughter. 5 years, hence, she will be 3 times as old as her daughter.

To find:

The present ages.

Solution:

•Let the daughter's age 5 years ago be R years.

Let her mother's age 5 years ago be 7R years.

After 5 years,

⚫Daughter's age is R +10

⚫Mother's age is 7R+10

According to the question:

=) 7R+10= 3(R+10)

=) 7R +10= 3R + 30

=) 7R -3R= 30 -10

=) 4R = 20

=) R= 20/4

=) R= 5 years

So,

•Present age of daughter's= R+5

=) 5+ 5

=) 10 years

•Present age of mother's= 7R+5

=) 7(5) + 5

=) 35 +5

=) 40 years

Hope it helps ☺️
