Answer:

l = 25cm

b = 16cm

Step by step explanation:

Given:

Area = 400 cm²

perimeter = 82 cm

To Find:

Let's

Length=?

Breadth=?

Solution:

Perimeter of rectangle = 2( l+ b)

82 = 2 ( l + b)

l + b = 41

l = 41 - b ______(1)

Area of rectangle = l × b

400 cm² = l × b

According to (1)___

400 = (41 - b )b

b²-41b+400 = 0

b²-16b-25b+400=0

b(b-16)-25(b-16)=0

(b-16)=0 (b-25)=0

b=16 b= 25

Using both values in equation (1).

we get,

l = 25cm

b = 16cm

OR

l = 25cm

b = 16cm

As breadth is usually smaller than length so the breadth is 16 cm.
