Question -

Area of rectangle and square are same if the length of rectangle is 16 cm and breadth is 9 cm,find the side of square?

Solution -

Here,

Length of the rectangle (l) = 16cm

Breadth of the rectangle (b) = 9cm

Given that,

Area of rectangle = Area of square

\implies \: l \times b =  {(side)}^{2}

Putting the values,

⟹16 \times 9 =  {(side)}^{2}

⟹ {(side)}^{2}  = 144

⟹side =   \sqrt{144}

⟹side = 12

Therefore the side of the square is 12cm

Related Formulae -

  • Area of rectangle = length × breadth

  • Area of square = (side)²

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length +breadth)

  • Perimeter of square = 4×side

Question:-

Area fo rectangle and square are same if the length of rectangle is 16cm and breadth is 9cm . find side of square.

Solution:-

Given,

  • Area of rectangle and area of square if length of rectangle is 16cm and breadth is 9cm.

Area of rectangle = Area of square

( l × b ) = ( side )²

( 16 × 9 ) = side²

144 = side²

side = √144

\boxed{ \: side \:  =  \: 12 \: }

The side of the square is 12cm

Verification:-

Area of rectangle = Area of square

( l × b ) = ( side )²

( 16 × 9 ) = 12²

\boxed{ \: 144 \:  =  \: 144 \: }
