Solution

we know that the area formed by the points (x1,y1);(x2,y2) &(x3,y3) is

=0.5×|[x1(y2-y3)+x2(y3-y1)+x3(y1-y2)]|

now here the points are.....

(-8, 4), (-6, 6) and (-3, 9)

therefore area

  (-8, 4), (-6, 6) and (-3, 9) \\ = \frac{1}{2} ( - 8(6 - 9) + ( - 6)(9 - 4) + ( - 3)(4 - 6)) \\ = 0.5 \times (24 - 30 + 6) \\ = 0.5 \times 0 \\ = 0

therefore the points are collinear cause the area formed by them is 0.
