Given :

  • Area of rectangle = 238 cm²
  • Breadth of rectangle = 14 cm

To find :

  • Length of the rectangle

Knowledge Required :-

→ Formula of area of rectangle :-

  • Area of rectangle = l × b

where,

  • l = length of the rectangle
  • b = breadth of the rectangle

Solution :

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = l × b

⠀⠀⠀⇒ 238 = l × 14

⠀⠀⠀⇒ 238/14 = l

⠀⠀⠀⇒ 17 = l

Length of the rectangle = 17 cm

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Verification :-

Substitute the value of l in 238 = l × 14

LHS = 238

Taking RHS,

⠀⠀⠀⇒ l × 14

⠀⠀⠀⇒ 17 × 14

⠀⠀⠀⇒ 238

RHS = 238

LHS = RHS

Hence, verified.

Know MorE :-

Properties of rectangle :-

  • The opposite sides of rectangle are parallel and equal to each other.
  • The diagonals of rectangle bisect each other.
  • All the angles of rectangle sum up to 90°.

Some related formulae :-

  • Perimeter of reactangle = 2(l + b)
  • Diagonal of rectangle = √l² + √b²
  • Area of square = side × side
  • Perimeter of square = 4 × side
  • Diagonal of square = √2a

Given :-

  • Area of Rectangle = 238cm²
  • Length of Rectangle = 14cm

 \\

To Find :-

  • Breadth of Rectangle

 \\

Solution :-

➞ Area of Rectangle = Length × Breadth

➞ 238 = 14 × Breadth

➞ 238 / 14 = Breadth

➞ 17 = Breadth

Thus Breadth of Rectangle is 17cm
