area of a square = s^2
= (12cm)^2
=144cm^2

area of a square = area of a rectangle

144cm^2 = l×b
144cm^2=16 cm× b
144/16 = b
9cm= b

perimeter of a square = 4 ×side
=(4 ×12)cm =48cm

perimeter of a rectangle= 2(l+b)
=2(16+9)cm
=50cm

perimeter of a rectangle is greater than the perimeter of a square..
