h=10m
1st parallel side: x
2nd parallel side: x+20
area=400m square

area of trapezium: h/2 (a+b)
400=10/2(x+x+20)
400=5× (2x+20)
400=10x+100
400-100=10x
300=10x
30=x

1st parallel side: 30m
2nd parallel side: 30+20= 50m

The parallel sides are 30 m and 50 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the other side of trapezium be x

We are given that one of its parallel sides is 20m longer than the other

So, one of parallel sides = x+20

Height of trapezium = 10 m

Area of trapezium =\frac{1}{2}(\text{Sum of parallel sides }) \times Height

Area of trapezium =\frac{1}{2}(20+x+x)10

We are given that Area of a Trapezium is 400m2

So, \frac{1}{2}(20+x+x)(10)= 400

20+2x=80

2x=60

x=30

So, Parallel sides = x+20=30+30=50 m and 30 m

Hence The parallel sides are 30 m and 50 m
