Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

(a) Side =Altitude+2

x=Altitude+2

So Altitude=x-2

(b) We know that area of a triangle

=\frac{( side \times altitude)}{2}\\\\Thus\\\\144 =\frac{ x \times ( x-2)}{2}

x(x-2) =2 \times 144\\\\x^2 -2x=288\\\\x^2-2x-288=0\\\\

This is the said equation

(c) \ x^2-2x-288=0\\\\x^2-18x+16x-288=0\\\\x(x-18)+16(x-18)=0\\\\(x-18)(x+16)=0\\\\x=18 \ or \ x=-16\\\\Neglecting \ the \ negative \ value \ of \ x\\\\x=18\\\\Thus \ the \ length \ of \ side =18 \ cm
