Area Of Square = (Side) ^2
➣ Area of square
Defination - Area of a square is defined as the number of square units needed to fill a square.
General - In general, the area is defined as the region occupied inside the boundary of a flat object or 2d figure.
Measurement - The measurement is done in square units with the standard unit being square meters (m²)
Formula - Side × Side Square Units.
Example 1: Find the area of a square clipboard whose side measures 120 cm.
Solution:
Side of the clipboard = 120 cm = 1.2 m
Area of the clipboard = side × side
= 120 cm ×120 cm
= 14400 sq. cm
= 1.44 sq. m
Example 2: The side of a square wall is 75 m. What is the cost of painting it at the rate of Rs. 3 per sq. m?
Solution:
Side of the wall = 75 m
Area of the wall = side × side = 75 m × 75 m = 5625 sq. m
For 1 sq. m, the cost of painting = Rs. 3
Thus, for 5625 sq. m, the cost of painting = Rs. 3 × 5625 = Rs 16875
➣ Area of a Rectangle
A rectangle comprises of four sides, where the longer lines parallel to each other is equal in length. It can also be described or termed as an equiangular quadrilateral since all of its angles are equal (360°/4 = 90°). It can also be defined as a parallelogram containing opposite sides equal and parallel in it.
The Area of a Rectangle Formula is, A = l × b
Where,
l = Length
b = Breadth
Question 1: Find the area of the rectangle whose length is 15 cm and width is 4 cm ?
Solution:
Given,
Length = 15 cm
Width = 4 cm
Area of a rectangle
= Length × Width
= 15 × 4 cm²
= 60 cm²
Example 2: If the length of the rectangle of area 351 cm2 is 27 cm, then find its width.
Solution:
Given,
Length = 27 cm
Area = 351 cm²
We know that,
Area of rectangle = Length x Width
351 = 27 x Width
Width = 351/27
= 13 cm
➣ Area of Triangle
In general, the term “area” is defined as the region occupied inside the boundary of a flat object or figure. The measurement is done in square units with the standard unit being square meters (m²).
Formula - Area of a Triangle = A = ½ (b × h) square units
