Given that

=> Ar ( big sq. ) 16 cm ^2

=> Side ^2 = 16

=> Side = 4 cm

So in case of square formed by joining of mid points

=> So, side = 4/2 = 2 cm each

=> Ar of new square = ( 2)^2

=> 4 cm ^2

Heya !!!

Area of square = 16 cm²

(Side)² = 16

Side = root 16

Side = 4 cm

Therefore,

Diagonal of square = root 2 × 4 = 4 root 2 cm

Side of resulting square obtained by joining the mid points of square =

=> 1 / 2 × Diagonal

=> 1/2 × 4 root 2

=> 2 root 2 cm

Therefore,

Area of resulting square = (Side)²

=> ( 2 root 2)²

=> 4 × 2

=> 8 cm².
