According to the given question, we've been given that,

  • Area of trapezium = 308cm²
  • Height of trapezium = 28cm
  • First parallel side = 16cm

with this information, we've been asked to find out the second parallel side of given trapezium.

We know that,

  • Area of trapezium = 1/2 * sum of parallel sides * distance between them.

Let us assume that, 'x' is the second parallel side of the trapezium.

By substituting the given values in the formula, we get the following results:

→ 308 = 1/2 * (16 + x) * 28

→ 308 = 1 * (16 + x) * 14

→ 308 = 224 + 14x

→ 308 - 224 = 14x

→ 84 = 14x

→ x = 84/14

→ x = 6

As we assumed earlier that 'x' is the second parallel side of the trapezium.

Hence, the second parallel side of trapezium is 6cm.

To find : parallel side of trapezium .

Given : area of trapezium = 308 \ cm^{2}     height = 28 \ cm .

one of the parallel side = 16\ cm

Solution :

  • We know , that area of trapezium is given by , product of sum of parallel sides and height divided by 2 .
  • formula given as :
  • Area \ of \ Trapezium = \frac{1}{2} \times ( a + b )\times h
  • Here ,  a, b = parallels sides ,  h = height
  • Substituting the values we get ,
  • 308 = \frac{1}{2} \times ( 16+ b ) \times 28

        308 = ( 16 + b ) \times14 \\16 + b = \frac{308}{14}  \\b  =22- 16 \\b = 6

Hence , length of second parallel side is 6 cm .
