Given:

As given in the figure

To find:

The area of the yellow colour paper required to cover the portion of the rocket.

Solution:

The height of the rocket model = 10 cm

The height of the conical part of the model = 3 cm

∴ The height of the cylindrical part of the model = 10 - 3 = 7 cm

The diameter of the base = 14 cm

∴ The radius of the base = \frac{diameter }{2} = \frac{14}{2} = 7\: cm

Ram uses yellow colour paper to cover the cylindrical surface of the rocket model, so we have to find the surface area of the cylindrical part to get the area of the yellow paper used.

Now,

The required area of the yellow paper used to cover the cylindrical portion of the rocket is,

= Curved surface area of the cylinder

= 2 \pi r h

= 2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 7 \times 7

= 2 \times 22 \times 7

= \bold{308 \:cm^2} ← option (2)

Thus, the area of the yellow colour paper required to cover the portion of the rocket is → 308 cm².
