Given :

  • Area of Trapezium = 140cm²
  • First Parallel Side = 25cm
  • Height of Trapezium = 7cm

 \\

To Find :

  • Second Parallel Side

 \\

Solution :

✰ As we know that, Area of Trapezium is given by ½ × height × (sum of parallel sides) or ½ × height × (S1 + S2). Now in this question, Area of Trapezium and Height of Trapezium along with one side is given and we have to find the second Parallel Side . So Simply we will put the given values in the formula to find the second Parallel Side of the Trapezium.

⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀Area = ½ × h × (S1 + S2)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀140 = ½ × 7 × (25 + S2)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀140 × 2 = 7 × (25 + S2)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀280 = 7 × (25 + S2)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀280/7 = (25 + S2)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀40 = (25 + S2)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀40 - 25 = S2

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀15cm = S2

Verification :

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀Area = ½ × h × (S1 + S2)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀Area = ½ × 7 × (25 + 15)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀Area = ½ × 7 × 40

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀Area = 7 × 20

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀⠀140 = 140

Hence Verified

Thus, Second Parallel Side of the Trapezium is 15cm.
