Given info : Areas of two similar triangles are 100 cm² and 64 cm². if a side of the smaller triangle is 12cm.

To find : the corresponing side of the bigger triangle is..

solution : we know, the ratio of areas of two similar triangles is the ratio of square of any pair of the corresponding sides of the similar triangles.

let triangles ΔABC and ΔDEF are given in such a way that ΔABC ≅ ΔDEF where ΔABC = 100 cm² and ΔDEF = 64 cm² and also DE = 12 cm

so, ΔABC/ΔDEF = AB²/DE²

⇒ 100cm²/64cm² = AB²/(12cm)²

⇒ 100 × 144/64 = AB²

⇒ AB = 120/8 = 15cm

therefore the corresponding side of the bigger triangle is 15cm.
