Answer:

The final temperature of gas is  4.965°C

Explanation:

Initial temperature of argon ( T₁ ) = 20°C.

Let the initial volume of argon ( v₁ ) = V

The gas is expanded adiabatically,

Final volume of gas ( v₂ ) = 8 * V.

We have to find final temperature ( T₂ ) = ?

Now using the ideal gas equation for adiabatic expansion.

\frac{T_{2} }{T_{1} } = ( \frac{v_{1} }{v_{2} } )^{\gamma -1}

\gamma= 1.67  for argon.

T_{2} = 20* ( \frac{1}{8} )^{1.67 - 1} = 4.965°C
