Thank you for asking a very interesting question.
It is true that the white European settlers in North America caused a lot of death and destruction. They were involved in racism, murder, rape and complete destruction of families, societies , nature, trees for sole economic benefits.
However, I have to disagree on saying that White man is ''contemptuous of Nature'' even today.
The 21st Century has given rise to a new found respect for not just fellow humans but also nature.
This respect has grown out as a response to right-wing ideology. A movement lead by Western civilization where every living thing needs to be respected, both human, animal, plants and nature in general.
Let's look at some of the countries which are the forefront of preserving nature. Green movements are thriving in UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and even China. United States is not far behind and while it may be argued that the political will is not there, the average person understands the importance of nature and how it can impact our life.
So I beg to differ. Things have changed a lot in the last 300 years and just cause a nation's forefather did something doesn't mean the latest generation is the same
