.Closed book examinations are done in order to test the student's ability to write the problems and theories which are prescribed in a particular book. Whereas, open book examinations enable the student to create their own theory and help to apply the concepts

Answer:

See below

Explanation:

In favour of the statement

Closed book exam generally tests your ability to write theories and problems which are readily available in some prescribed textbook.

Open book exams challenge you to either create your own theories or help you visualize the concepts and help you apply these concepts in an exam setting.

I, personally would prefer an open book exam over a closed book exam any day.

For an open book exam it is sufficient if you have attended the classes, understood the concepts and are able to apply these concepts. A closed book exam is generally more conservative and tests only those aspects that are kind of readily available.

Open book exams challenge you, they motivate you to come up with your own solutions. I personally have had MUCH more fun in an open book exam than in a closed book exam.

It is not only challenging for the student, but also for the faculty. Because now the faculty has to make sure that the questions are not readily available in the available texts.

In conclusion, open book exams are better, healthier and more fun.
