Ariel completed the work below to show that a triangle with side lengths of 9, 15, and 12 does not form a right triangle.

We will use the  Pythagorean Theorem here:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

We will use the three sides 9, 15 and 12

15 is the largest side, now we will assume that it is  hypotenuse/c.

15^2 = 9^2 + 12^2

225  = 81 + 144

225 = 255

They are equal so from this we can say this that it is a right angled triangle.
