as its arithmetic sequence then common difference will be same ..

therefore

therefore by formula

a + c = 2b

that is 24 + p^2 = 2p

p^2 - 2p + 24

here first term=a= 24

common difference=d= p-24

we know that third term= a3 = p^2

therefore a3=p^2

=> a +2d = p^2

=> 24 + 2(p-24) = p^2

=> 24 +2p - 48 = p^2

=> 2p - 24 =p^2

=> p^2 -2p +24 =0

You can solve the quadratic equation now.

Hope this helps:)
