initial mean ( consider this as x ) = 32 and initial number of observations ( consider this as y )  = 7

=>  ( sum of 7 observations ) / x = y

=> sum of 7 observations = x * y

= 32 * 7

= 224

so initial sum of 7 observations is 224

but one more observation 42 is added to initial sum of observations

so number of observations becomes 8 and sum of observations becomes 224 + 42  266

new mean = 266 / 8 = 33.25
