an = 3n + 4

an - 3n = 4

n(a - 3) = 4

Answer:

The nth term is  3n+4  

The next term is  3(n+1)+4=3n+3+4=3n+7  

The difference between the two is  (3n+7)–(3n+4)=3n−3n+7–4=3  

So the difference between any two consecutive numbers is a constant (in this case 3). That is the definition of an AP.

The 6th term is just what you get when  n=6  

a6=3×6+4=22
