Answer:

Let us take shriya's age to be x years.

Then Arjun age would be 2x years.

Shriya's age five years ago (x-5) years.

Arjun's age five years ago (2x-5) years.

It is given that Arjun's age five years ago was three times Shriya's age.

Thus, 2x - 5 = 3 ( x - 5 )

or 2x - 5 = 3x - 15

or 2x - 3x = -15 + 5

or -x = -10

or x = 10

So, Shriya's age = x = 10 years .

Therefore, Arjun's age = 2x = 2×10 = 20 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Arjun's age be x and shriya's age be y

A.T.Q.

x=2y

x-5=3 (y-5)

=>x-5=3y-15

=>2y-3y=-15+5

=>-y=-10

=>y=10

Now ,

x=2y

=>x=(2×10)

=>x=20

Therefore Arjun's age is 20 yrs and Shriya's age is 10 yrs.
