Solution :

• Let the present age of Arjun be x
• Let the present age of Shriya be y

According to question,

Arjun is twice as old as Shriya so,

• x = 2y .... equation (1)

After 5 years ago,

• Age of Arjun = x - 5
• Age of Shriya = y - 5

And also Given, 5 years ago his age was four times Shirya age so,

》x - 5 = 4(y - 5)

》x - 5 = 4y - 20

》x - 4y + 15 = 0 .... equation (2)

Now, putting the value of x from equation (1) in equation (2) we get

》2y - 4y + 15 = 0

》2y + 15 = 0

》y = 15/2

》y = 7.5

Now , putting the value of y = 7.5 in equation (1) we get,

》x = 2y

》x = 2(7.5)

》x = 15

• Present age of Arjun is 7.5 years
• Present age of Shriya is 15 years
