Let Shriya’s age be x-
Let Arjun’s age be y-
y = 2x
y - 5 = 3(x - 5)
2x - 5 = 3x - 15
15 - 5 = 3x - 2x
10 = x
Therefore, y = 2x = 2(10) = 20

Given that:- Arjun is twice Shriya's age, and he was three times Shriya's age five years ago.

To find:- Their present ages,

Assume that, Arjun's age will be 'x' years.

Shriya's age will be 'y' years.

From the question, we see that,

Arjun is twice Shriya's age,

So, the equation we get,

x=2y...(i)

Arjun's age 5 years ago was x-5.

Shriya's age 5 years ago was y-5.

As he was three times Shriya's age five years ago.

So, the equation we get,

x-5=3(y-5)

x-3y+10=0...(ii)

Now, by putting the value of x in equation (ii) we get,

2y-3y+10=0

y=10

Again by putting the value of y in equation (i) we get,

x=2y

x=20

Therefore, Arjun's present age is 20 years, and Shriya's present is 10 years.
