◾️It consists of balls or irregular lumps of ice, each of which is called a hailstone.

◾️They are formed when raindrops are cooled so that they freeze into lumps.

◾️It mostly occurs at the time of thunder storm. When the layer of cloud is below freezing point the large water droplets freeze into ice and cannot able to bear their weight.
