Given :

➛ Applied force = 100N

➛ Displacement = 8m

➛ Angle = 60°

To Find :

፨ Net work done.

Concept :

➨ Work done is defined as the dot product of force and displacement.

➨ It is a scalar quantity.

➨ It has only magnitude.

➨ SI unit : Nm or J

➨ Formula : W = Fs cosΦ

where

◕ W denotes work done

◕ F denotes applied force

◕ s denotes displacement

◕ Φ denotes angle b/w F and s

Calculation :

⇒ W = Fs cosΦ

⇒ W = (100×8) cos60°

⇒ W = 800 × 1/2

W = 400J

Given,

Force = 100N

Angle = 60°

The object displayed in

horizontal direction = 8m

To Find:-

How much work is done

Calculations:-

W = F × d

W = work done

F= Force

d=distance moved in the direction of the force.

Substituting the calculations:-

W = 100×8 ×cos60°

W =800×1/2

w=400joules

Option.1

The work done is 400 joules.

Explore More:-

Work:-

  • Work done by the force is defined as the product of component of force along the direction of displacement and magnitude of displacement

  • The scalar product of force and displacement

  • work is said to be done by force when the body display along the direction of force acts.

Units:- Nm or joule

  • Work is a scalar quantity.
