Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, remembered as iron man of India was a great man, visionary statesman, and pure patriot of India. He is credited to have united India into one large country. He was the first Deputy Prime Minster of India. His love for his motherland was pure and untainted. He did not have any vested interests.
He wanted to make India one strong nation that was self-reliant in all aspects. He wanted to see India as developed, advanced, and resilient country. He not only played a pivotal role in the India’s struggle for independence, but also played the most crucial role in uniting India after independence.
Born on October 31, 1875 in Gujarat, he started his political career there; he launched many anti-British campaigns in Gujarat successfully. Under his leadership, India integrated as many as 565 self-governing princely states. He is known as the ‘Unifier of India’. His strategy and endeavor to unify Jammu and Kashmir, Junagadh, and Hyderabad were commendable. If he had not acted promptly, these territories would have been annexed to Pakistan.
In order to create a systematic nation, he started All India Services. The contemporary All-India administrative services would not come into being, if he had not had a vision for them.
It is believed that India would have been a far stronger country if he would have been allowed to become the Prime Minister of India.
